Founded in 2010, Mash Media is a publishing brand that re-imagines the urban lifestyle through beauty, fashion, design, and the celebration of a city and its people.Mash Media is defined by an unrelenting drive to lead the industry with publications combining beauty, fashion, and design for the multicultural audience. Our team is comprised of seasoned professionals in these respective industries that are passionate and loyal to our brand.Focus on quality, innovation, and positioning unique publications in the co-existence of print, online, and tablet digital media is currently the core of our business and is evident in all of our products and brands. A few months prior to the launch of MASH Magazine in March of 2011, Mash Media was was commissioned to create a luxury magazine for the metro-Detroit area, Luxe32, which debuts in November of 2011. Our services includes creating custom magazines for the demographic that our clients are seeking to attract. Services include concept, creative direction, editorial composition, art direction, printing, and distribution.Our Underlying Philosophy is Grounded in Social ChangeWe are built around a single philosophy: Style should not only radiate from your body, but also your home and into the city. MASH magazine serves as a platform for the message that we must not forget the importance of living well in our bodies, as well as our homes and cities. Homes are a reflection of the people that reside in them and MASH educates city dwellers in understanding the balance of living and breathing in good home and body design. Good design applies to all areas of our lives and is deserving to everyone. The old saying goes, "If you look good, you will feel good", which touches on Vanity Urbanity - our non-profit initiative that encourages city beautification efforts beginning with homeowners self-esteem and pride. 10% of all advertising revenue goes into granting a make-over to a deserving reader and their home beginning with the residents of the City of Detroit. Print & DigitalAs we strive to push our digital innovation we are always haunted with the love of holding printed magazines in our hands. But, we know that the market is pulling us into the digital arena and we are following suit.We offer MASH in both digital and print formats, However, our prints are limited editions. Thank you for your interest in writing for MASH. To submit your ideas, please write a query letter that explains your story concept, proposed story length, possible experts (if it is a reported piece) and why this idea would appeal to the MASH reader. We are looking to secure fashion photography, and street photojournalism submissions* on a regular basis. Yes, we conceptualize and shoot our own editorials but we would also like to discover new talent for future commissions.Photojournalists >> click on the opportunities tab. MASH will not announce themes of upcoming issues that you must follow but would rather you follow the below guidelines for submissions and be free to come up with your own themes. What we look for in Fashion Editorials: 1) Models must be signed to an agency (exceptions for some, must be at least 18 yrs old), and of multi-cultural ethnicities. Models should have industry experience. We love movement + excitement - not all of the time, but most of the time. Model releases are required.2) Fashion Styling must fall into current trends for the season with 70/30 mix of high end lables / commercial lables, vintage, and mid range fashions. The type of stylists that meet our standards should have contacts and relationships with showrooms and designers. 3) Hair and Makeup artists must meet industry standards. Pretty makeup is okay, but we want daring and bold.4) Final images must be professionally retouched. Editorials should be at least 4 - 5 spreads long (8 - 10 pages). Images should be submitted at least one month in advance to issue close date. (Please refer to the editorial calendar in the media kit for closing dates). Want a gaurantee that you'll be published? Do this step first. Submit your editorial story boards to the Senior Fashion Editors / Creative Director for approval. Once approved and post-production is completed to MASH standard (i.e. retouching etc) these editorials are guaranteed to be published.*All submissions will be subject to contract. If you are an artist or independent designer or represent one that has recently won an award, finsihed a new project or recieved various forms of recognition, we want to feature you.
